Everyone has dreams back in high school, but most American dreams fail, and we end up shopping at the local Walmart. This song not only lets us know that we're not alone, but sets it to incredible music, and beyond telling us that we're alright anyway, glorifies the experience! Love it!!!
Learn to,love Your journey. Hopefully you’ll find someone (like I did) and patiently we enjoy each other and respect our desires. 39yrs now and we inevitably learn something new on our adventures. Peace to all sharing a journey.
This is one of my favorite Sugarland songs. It reminds me of the simple beauty of everyday life. You may not be the richest or most famous, but you're happy to just be there.
"He never felt so scared, he never felt so alive." That hits home for me. I think back to times I honestly felt that way and I could count them on one hand.
I'm an Aussie and I have always loved this song. America is what you make it. If you love it, you will prosper. If you loathe it, please leave. +God Bless America+
I appreciate this song for many reasons. I grew up in a small town and moved away for something more. I have new perspectives where I see everyone does dream for more. But a lot of what they have to go through is everyday America.
Sugarland-saw this video on Palladia this morning....this is my new fave group. Lyrics & music say it ALL. This is America & the world is gettin' flat!
Their songs always make me feel like nothing is on my shoulders, no weight no nothing. No depression, freedom, only thing to stress about was tests for middle school
i went to her concert in iowa and it was the first time i ever heard her when i heard some of her songs and said wow she is really good 2 weeks l8er i had her cd and couldnt stop listening to it!!! i luv it!!!!!!!!
I love her eye makeup! I miss this sugarland so much! I was totally obsessed with them when i was younger i think i saw them in concert like 7 or 8 times and i would totally go again! Im excited for their reunion album!
I work in a grocery store that has this and many other Sugarland songs, along with songs by The Fray that resonate throughout the store. Every. Single. Day.
Always Enough When we wanted more we took it When the tree was full we shook it In hard times we were tough We didn't have much but somehow Our Love was always enough. M.S. Morrison
Grew up on a tight rope Learned to smile even when I was falling down Daddy had a hard hand, and Mama always had hope And me and my sister couldn't wait to get out Fell in love out of college Good man for a bad year Visions of sugarplums and boxes of roses All my girlfriends cried, and I was outta here Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by That's how it goes in every day America A little town with a great big life Joey stares at a trophy Took us all the way to state back in '85 Shining moment and a dusty reminder He felt so scared, never felt so alive But now there's toys in the backyard Daddy's boys; you know how they like to fight When they sleep, he swears they're angels He wouldn't trade a day for all those Friday nights Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by That's how it goes in every day America A little town with a great big life We can laugh We can cry We're all just looking for the reasons why In a place of dark can we see the light Either way it'll be alright Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by That's how it goes in every day America A little town with a great big life Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by That's how it goes in every day America A little town with a great big life A little town with a great big life
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Just cause someone appreciates rap doesn't mean they can't appreciate other genres of music as well. I love rap but I also love country. I do agree that she's amazing.
Finally figured out who's made this song...I was hearing it local stores. Unmistakable- her voice is shrill, and sounds like a circular saw. The sound also comes on the PA at 5 times louder than anything else.
The best thing about Sugarland is that they can take you on a great big emotional roller coaster. One song can make you feel good and happy, like this one, or make you feel the pain and heartbreak of "Stay". One of the top Country Bands out there.
What’s the instrument being played at 0:08 reason why I ask is I was born in the mid 90s and have heard that sound in many of songs across different genres growing up. If I had to guess, my first instinct would be it’s a sound on an electric piano or a sound being made by a guitar with a foot pedal. Whatever it is, I’ve always liked that sound in songs during the 2000s.
In those days, every guys truck CD player had this in rotation....just to show he was into pop-country. It was Jennifers voice that made that possible. Today, he writes TCM jingles, and she has disappeared.
I didn't hear about Sugarland until it was too late. Totally love Sugarland forever. Lyrics are a perfect reflection of my life. When I lead my San Dimas CA High School band out onto the football field once, marched in parades and halftime shows -- never felt so afraid and never felt so alive afterward...
I love everything they sing wish I could see them my husband n I would love to see her we r 66 n disabled cancer 4times. Love u jennifer
That voice is a weapon of good.

This is the kind of country I wish the genre would go back to. It's just so good!
AGREED!
I really think the Toby Keith-style post 9/11 country changed the genre so much that if you aren't pro America, you're bad country and "woke."

"He never felt so scared, he never felt so alive."
That hits home for me. I think back to times I honestly felt that way and I could count them on one hand.

I appreciate this song for many reasons. I grew up in a small town and moved away for something more. I have new perspectives where I see everyone does dream for more. But a lot of what they have to go through is everyday America.

Just an observation She never seems to age.

Will this song ever fail to bring tears to my eyes?
Always Enough
When we wanted more we took it
When the tree was full we shook it
In hard times we were tough
We didn't have much but somehow
Our Love was always enough.

Grew up on a tight rope
Learned to smile even when I was falling down
Daddy had a hard hand, and Mama always had hope
And me and my sister couldn't wait to get out
Fell in love out of college
Good man for a bad year
Visions of sugarplums and boxes of roses
All my girlfriends cried, and I was outta here
Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big
Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by
That's how it goes in every day America
A little town with a great big life
Joey stares at a trophy
Took us all the way to state back in '85
Shining moment and a dusty reminder
He felt so scared, never felt so alive
But now there's toys in the backyard
Daddy's boys; you know how they like to fight
When they sleep, he swears they're angels
He wouldn't trade a day for all those Friday nights
Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big
Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by
That's how it goes in every day America
A little town with a great big life
We can laugh
We can cry
We're all just looking for the reasons why
In a place of dark can we see the light
Either way it'll be alright
Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big
Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by
That's how it goes in every day America
A little town with a great big life
Whoa, whoa, everybody's dreaming big
Whoa, whoa, everybody's just getting by
That's how it goes in every day America
A little town with a great big life
A little town with a great big life
