You're 100% right, (y) I did mean it in a sense that it was less addictive than the others you mentioned (in a physical way).

But addictive was definitely the wrong word for me to use. It is possible to be addicted to anything. :(
Yeah, sorry if I went a bit hard on it but I know people who kept smoking weed and couldn't stop, ultimately ruining their lives financially and mentally because of it.

par·a·digm shift
/ˈperəˌdīm ˌSHift/

noun
noun: paradigm shift; plural noun: paradigm shifts
  1. a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions.
I'm beginning to think the titles are meaningless, outside of Episode 8 Crossroads, where the Relationship decision is made.

So what is the "Paradigm Shift"? For who? What's the fundamental change in story or game play?
  • MC? He's still the party planner. Still a martial artist and guitarist, regardless of going to either competition or party. (Outside of the player redoing the whole game because of the Sage/Jade guilt?) Talking to Chad didn't change anything. Definitely not the Magnar reveal. And you can't count the ending scene, or of everyone getting letters.. Brawler and mini games didn't change at all.
  • Jill? She's more...kissy? She teaches the MC to...like winter? (Possible throuple with Bella?)
  • Bella? The rule book reveal changed nothing. (Possible throuple with Jill?)
  • Sage? Maybe the optional "love" declaration, but again changed nothing (she had these feelings last episode). That she's the glue for her new "family"?
  • Maya/Josy? Also declaring you love either of them, and maybe Josy's existential issue (which is dumb and also goes nowhere)/"throuples don't work" theme from DPC again? But that's not plot related. And Maya got her dad issue resolved regardless of getting the contract...
  • Quinn is the same bad girl regardless of her honesty and exposition. 0 development on the restaurant/prostitution/scholarship plot. Her dad told her a story from a picture book as a kid...?

Side characters:
  • Nick leaves the DIK's and the MC gets a spot on the Party Planner...?
  • Maybe Lily suddenly gets fuzzy feelings and has to rethink her life? But that's totally optional for a side character.
  • Riona got assaulted and is AWOL.
  • More girls get introduced as side or potential side characters in Others.

So nothing changed or was developed for the main characters to cause a new paradigm of storytelling or game play. (Outside of Tybalt walking weird.) There was no major plot point every path went through aside from Quinn exposition, which I highly doubt would turn our MC into some kind of vigilante/life of police service.

The closest would be Zoey, who puts a wrench into Others path. And that's if you're on Others; the game just rejects her automatically on any other path. If not and you accept, The Others route is then destroyed. (Zoey, maybe Lily...possibly a change in Nora?) But even then, you can choose not to.

So maybe, in the future, the Others route is more streamlined and simplified, and DPC will create more focused routes? Is it a new paradigm to DPC storytelling or work routine?

Honestly: what was the big change this episode?

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of DPC using already accumulated cheating points against us if we switch to the Zoey route. We'll get some in the future, it seems more than likely, but be careful because we might not start from scratch.

I don't know if Zoey has been able to see everything the MC has done to earn cheating points, but it could make for a funny scene if she told the MC that she's seen him do certain things, and that this kind of behavior is going to have to stop.
I think Jacob will tell Zoe about MC sleeping with Lily after the BBQ. MC forbids him from seeing Zoe and sleeps with another girl that same night. Honestly, if I were Jacob, I would be pissed.

I don't get why people still don't understand the point of the whole "King and Queen" bs. You guys do know it's actual human psychology to latch onto people/animals hell even objects more emotionally if we call them by their names or we name them ourselves right?

Lily says herself on episode 10 at the pier that the reason she wanted a relationship with MC but not a romantic one was because of her whole life plan and what is the best way to treat a realtionship as shallow? Not using your partner's name and make it seem like it just a transactional kind of relationship.

However, she said so herself that episode as well when they talk about the whole rolling thing that it's not bad that the MC wants to learn more from her even if she said she didn't want to tell him anything yet.

When Sage gets involved into her "non-relationship"(BTW, minus points for Sage on that one betraying the whole "Don't turn on each other"), She immediatly goes defensive and feels even insecure about the whole ordeal to the point of not only accusing Sage of outright being jealous but also asking the MC if he actuall feels like she is only using him, when the mc denies this she chooses or forgets her whole idea and tells him personal stuf no one in the whole campus know, that is SUPER big and it just shows she's been catching feelings for a while know.

She just tried to keep things shallow to protect her job and maybe because a part of her would've started to regret some of her life choices up to that point.

Also, if "King and Queen" is omega cringe for everyone then "Quinn" is cringe by default I'm afraid :KEK::KEK:
Lily is only human. And the whole rollin' thing is now just pretend.
EP11 party.

the falling out of the DIKs, the start of Quinn's "redemption arc" (if we're gonna call that), Zoey finally springing into action and serving as a wrench in most routes, but more importantly, and probably the reason for the title: the reveal of the true mastermind behind all the school shenanigans... I mean, that kinda changes the paradigm quite a bit...

Although, to be fair, DPC kinda fucked up with the titles, since "Paradigm Shift" would've been better for Ep9, and "Vixens" would've been better for Ep11... 'cause the vixens didn't do jack shit in 9... they did come out to play this episode tho...

I'm fairly certain that on either my Jill or Throuple route I had the option to say yes to Zoey, I'm also sure that others on other MG routes have had the option to dump their MG for Zoey.

So Zoey is going to fuck Jacob just to try and piss off the mc, that would just make her a whore and Jacob would become a pariah in the DIK house, a bit like Nick.

Correct. As long as you get enough "Zoey points" and you don't say "I love you" on either of Josy's and Maya's solo dates, you have the option to drop every MG for Zoey if you want.

No, it's all good. I didn't take it that way. (y)

I used the wrong word (it's definitely addictive).
It also doesn't help that a joint is weed combined with tobacco, another substance that IS very addictive.
I still want to try spacecake, never done it.
